This academic workshop aims to explore different forms of joint participation of the EU and its Member States’ in international agreements. During the one day Zoom-event, on the 5th of November 2020, we will explore different legal reasons that push the EU and its Member States to participate in international agreements together. The first and second panels will explore the complex nature of mixed agreements under the EU and international law. The third panel will address the issue of EU Member States’ representation in international agreements. Through different legal case studies, during the fourth panel, we will discuss the EU and its Member States’ parallel and joint participation in international agreements. Finally, the fifth panel will challenge the legal nature of mixity under the stress of the current crises.
