Netherlands Institute of Human Rights – Seminar and panel discussion ‘Leadership in Human Rights, Diversity, and Inclusion’
The Netherlands Institute of Human Rights will hold a seminar and panel discussion celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights entitled ‘Leadership in Human Rights, Diversity, and Inclusion’ which will take place on 2 May 2018 in the Academiegebouw (Domplein 29, 3512 JE Utrecht, The Netherlands).
This year, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) turns 70 years old. With celebrations and events taking place around the world, Utrecht University wants to draw specific attention to the notion of leadership in human rights today and to explore in what direction future leadership needs to go, bearing in mind the foundations provided by the UDHR. This event includes a masterclass for PhD Candidates; a keynote address focusing on the life and work of Eleanor Roosevelt; and a high-level panel discussion. The purpose of the panel is to hear the views and experiences of experts on these themes from three specific sectors: education, law, and politics. Drawing from Eleanor Roosevelt’s famous quote about human rights beginning “close to home”, the panellists will focus on developments in the Netherlands and also the wider world.
