The conference “Mapping International Law’s Second Worlds: Middle Powers, Semi-Peripheries and Shifting Hierarchies in the Global Legal Order” will take place on 16–17 November 2026 at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University.
The event invites contributions exploring “Second World Approaches to International Law” (SWAIL), with particular attention to middle powers, semi-peripheral actors, and dynamics of in-betweenness in the global legal order
General information and submission details:
- Abstracts (max. 500 words) along with a brief bio or 1-page CV: due 1 August 2026 and to be sent to lawandsustainability@smu.edu.sg
- Notification of acceptance: 21 August 2026
- Working paper (4,0000 – 6,000 words) deadline: 1 November 2026
It is anticipated that a special issue based on the conference will be published by a prominent peer-reviewed journal.
Selected speakers will participate in an in-person conference (no fee; travel at own expense).
