Call for Applications | 2025 International Foundation for the Law of the Sea Summer Academy (Law of the Sea and Maritime Law)
The Summer Academy of the International Foundation for the Law of the Sea (IFLOS) is a distinguished centre of excellence for the study of international law of the sea, maritime law, and related interdisciplinary fields, including economic and natural sciences. The program offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn from a prestigious faculty, including judges of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), renowned professors, and leading professionals in the maritime sector.
Each year, the Academy welcomes approximately 40 highly motivated participants from across the globe, creating a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment. The Summer Academy encourages collaboration and dialogue among individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, fostering a vibrant community dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field.
Applicants are typically required to hold a master’s degree (LL.M. or equivalent), though exceptions may be considered for master’s students, maritime professionals, and, in exceptional cases, outstanding undergraduate students specializing in the law of the sea or maritime law.
A limited number of scholarships and travel grants are available to help participants access this unique learning experience.
