This symposium explores the critical intersections between tribal sovereignty, energy governance, environmental justice, and climate resilience. It reflects a shared commitment to advancing sustainable, just, and inclusive energy futures, both within Indian Country and across Indigenous communities globally, while engaging comparative and international perspectives on law, governance, and development.
The event is designed to bridge U.S. federal Indian law and global Indigenous perspectives, fostering dialogue across jurisdictions, legal traditions, and governance systems.
Key themes include:
- Indigenous sovereignty and ESG frameworks
- Energy transitions and environmental justice
- Tribal governance and natural resources
- Critical minerals, nuclear energy, and renewables
- Artificial intelligence, data governance, and infrastructure justice
The even is hosting a distinguished and interdisciplinary group of speakers from institutions across the United States, Europe, and beyond.
This symposium is made possible through collaboration with partners including the American Society of International Law (ASIL), the European Society of International Law (ESIL), the American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA), gLAWcal – Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development, and other academic and policy networks.
