The Aim of ESIL Conversations
The ESIL Conversations are conceived as a series of online events through which the European Society of International Law (ESIL) aims to contribute to the discourse on international law offering high-level discussions on central questions of international law.
The first series, “Multilateralism in Times of Unilateralism”, is focused on negotiations of major treaties (like the Convention on Crimes against Humanity or the Convention on Protection of Persons in the Events of Disasters, as well as on the future of the United Nations Organisation).
The second series, “Responsibility of States and International Organisations in Times of Accountability Gaps: 25 Years of ARSIWA and 15 Years of ARIO”, aims to critically examine how contemporary practice has exposed legal gaps and revealed new, uncodified tendencies in these areas, calling for a critical reassessment of the solutions adopted by the ILC and an assessment of their current role and potential future developments.
