Board Member – Co-opted to the ESIL Board as organiser of the 2028 ESIL Annual Conference

Veronika Bílková is Professor of International Law and Head of the Department of International Law at the Faculty of Law, Charles University, Prague. She is also the head of the University Centre for Conflict and Post-Conflict Studies at the Faculty of Law and a Senior Researcher at the Institute of International Relations in Prague.
She served as the Czech member of the Venice Commission from 2010 to 2026 and participated as an expert in five fact-finding missions under the OSCE Moscow Mechanism between 2022 and 2025. She is a member of COMEX and an elected member of the UN Human Rights Committee for the 2027–2030 term. She previously served on the ESIL Board from 2016 to 2024, including as Secretary-General and Vice-President.
She has been co-opted to the current Board as local organiser of the 2028 ESIL Annual Conference in Prague. Her research primarily focuses on international human rights law, international humanitarian law, international criminal law, the use of force and counter-terrorism.
