ABOUT THE EVENT

As international courts and tribunals address increasingly politically charged disputes, the independence, impartiality and accountability of those deciding them are coming under growing scrutiny. The ESIL Interest Group on International Courts and Tribunals invites you to join this  timely discussion exploring judicial disqualification, recusal, conflicts of interest and judicial conduct across UNCLOS, the ICJ, the ICC and ICSID.
Moderator:
Yusra Suedi, University of Manchester
Speakers:
Dari Nof, University of Haifa
Hendrik Mathis Drößler, University of Salzburg
Oktawian Kuc, University of Warsaw
The panel will ask a fundamental question: how evenly have international courts institutionalised the safeguards on which their legitimacy ultimately depends?
