Within the framework of the PRIN-PNRR research project “Rights and Prejudice: Linguistic and Legal Implications of Gendered Discourses in Judicial Spaces (GenDJus) (https://gendjus.it/), funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research and the EU under the NextGeneration EU initiative, the Department of Political and Social Science, University of Bologna, is organising a workshop on Gender Stereotyping in International Human Rights Law and Discourse, to be held at the Forlì Campus on 29 November 2024, co-hosted by the newly-established Forlì Human Rights Interdisciplinary Centre.

The Workshop aims to advance the understanding of how prejudices, stereotypes, and biases manifest across universal and regional systems of human rights protection, particularly through the lens of international human rights bodies. It wishes to explore innovative methodologies to recognise how these attitudes shape the decisions of international and EU-based judicial bodies and how they can be eliminated or, at least, reduced so as to avoid a negative impact on the universal enjoyment of protected rights. Special attention will be placed on certain groups of people, specifically those identified by their gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics.
