At this meeting of the Transnational Regulatory Governance research group, the group will examine transplantation and fragmentation in law-making between and across jurisdictions.

Professor Mathias Siems will present his research on the phenomenon of ‘overfitting’ legal transplants: laws and legal forms that become more effective or more widely accepted in foreign jurisdictions than in their origin country.

Professor Gianpaolo M. Ruotolo will present his research on fragmentation and the rise of new regulatory models in the “global” governance of the Internet’s Domain Name System.

The group will consider the significance of transplantation and fragmentation for policymakers regulating transnational markets as well as for lawyers providing advice and dispute resolution services in the same context.
